What happens after I arrive in Russia?
Notify the International Office by email. Complete the medical procedures (fluorography and doctor’s examination) for dormitory check in. At the Accounting Office (Office 110), pay 6000 RUB for visa extension and 500 RUB for immigration registration. Then, in Office 214a, present your passport, immigration card, accommodation contract, and payment receipts to register your staying in Russia and obtain the multiple entry visa.
Can I apply for visa renewal and leave Russia during processing?
No—leaving the country invalidates your single entry visa.
How long does visa renewal take?
Up to 30 days from submission of documents. Submit your passport at least 45 days before current visa expiry.
How long does it take to get a single entry visa?
It depends on the consulate, typically 2 weeks.
What do I do after receiving the invitation?
Apply at the Russian consulate or embassy indicated in the invitation. Present the electronic invitation to obtain your visa.
What is the duration of a single entry visa?
90 days.

How long is the multiple entry visa valid?
If less than one year remains until graduation, the visa is valid until the end of study. If more than one year remains, the visa is issued for 365 days and must be renewed annually.
How do I obtain an invitation and when will it be ready?
Email visa@bgpu.ru. After you receive a reply, fill out the application form with your document scans. Once you pass the entrance exams, pay 5000-6000 RUB (≈ 450-540 CNY). Processing depends on the Regional Immigration Department but we aim to have all students arrive before classes begin. The invitation is sent as a PDF by email.
What documents are needed to extend my visa?
Passport; immigration card; two 3×4 cm color photos on white background; registration slip if living off campus; payment receipts (6000 RUB + 500 RUB). For multiple entry extensions: medical certificate and fingerprint card.
Can RVPO be revoked?
Yes—for transfer to non full time study or expulsion; exception: re-enrollment in a full time program within 30 days.
Do I need to reregister if I travel to other Russian cities?
Yes—if you stay more than seven working days in another city, you must reregister there, then reregister again upon return to Blagoveshchensk.
How do I obtain an insurance policy and for how long?
Provide a copy of your passport to Office 200a and pay 4,000 RUB; specify your residence address. The policy is valid for one year.
How long is the RVPO issued for?
For the duration of study plus 180 days.
What documents are needed for RVPO?

What happens if I violate immigration law?
Penalties include deportation, a fine up to 7,000 RUB, and a ban on entry for up to five years.
What if I do not complete fingerprinting?
You may face deportation and up to a five year entry ban.
What if I fall ill?
Each policy has a unique number and hotline. Call the insurer, provide your policy number and symptoms. They will arrange medical care and guide you.
What if I lose my immigration card?
Contact the International Office (Office 214a) immediately to restore it.
What is fingerprinting?
Identification by fingerprint and palm print patterns, which are unique to each individual.
What is RVPO (temporary residence permit for students) and who can get it?
A temporary residence permit for education purposes (RVPO) may be issued to full time bachelor’s, master’s, specialist, or postgraduate students in state accredited programs in Russia.
Who is exempt?
Citizens of Belarus; family members of international organization staff or diplomatic personnel; dual Russian citizens; holders of RVP or permanent residence. Those exempts must still notify the university and provide copies of documents to visa@bgpu.ru or Office 214a.
Who must undergo these procedures?
All foreign students within 90 days of arrival; foreign teachers within 30 days.
